Kaštánkov, an Early Childhood Centre established at Charles University, was developed with financial support from the European Union under the National Recovery Plan (project „Dětská skupina UK Point“). The aim of this investment is to increase the capacity of childcare facilities and support parents in returning to the workforce.
Support for Early Childhood Centres addresses a long-standing challenge in the Czech labour market: gender inequality. The lack of accessible childcare services is one of the main reasons why women often take extended career breaks. This affects not only their professional growth but also the financial stability of families.
Thanks to the newly built facilities at Kaštánkov, parents can better balance work and family life. Career interruptions due to childcare responsibilities no longer need to be prolonged unless parents choose so themselves. This initiative promotes equal opportunities for women and men in the labour market and supports the social inclusion of families with young children.
The project was implemented in line with the “Do No Significant Harm” principle and meets the requirements for energy efficiency and sustainability.
